AUTONOMY OF HYBRID AND ELECTRIC CARS

GOODBYE AUTONOMY ANXIETY

HOW DISTANCE CAN AN ELECTRIC CAR TRAVEL?

The distance that can be traveled on electric power depends on the type of vehicle. Plug-in hybrids have an electric range of around 56km * , while electric vehicles have a significantly longer range due to a larger battery. Newer models like the Mustang Mach-E are capable of traveling up to 600km ** on a single charge.

It's not just about battery capacity though. In fact, public charging stations are becoming more and more widespread, thus facilitating the possibility of charging while on the road. The BlueOval TM Charge Network gives Ford vehicle owners access to over 450,000 charging stations across Europe.

MAXIMIZE YOUR ELECTRIC AUTONOMY

With Ford plug-in hybrid and electric cars, you'll be in control of your electric range like never before.

OPTIMIZING THE AUTONOMY OF YOUR ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Driving style affects the range of an electric vehicle in the same way as with a conventional engine. High speeds and sudden accelerations consume more and reduce range. In order to cover the maximum possible kilometers with your electric vehicle, it is therefore necessary to drive regularly and at a constant speed.

Another tip is to use the FordPass app to pre-heat or cool the cabin while the car is charging. The energy saved for the air conditioning will in fact ensure greater range on the road.

Finally, let regenerative braking do its thing. Whenever possible, instead of hitting the brakes, let the car coast to decelerate to send energy to the battery.

REGENERATIVE BRAKING

All Ford hybrid and electric vehicles use regenerative braking technology. The system captures energy that is usually lost during braking and sends it back to the battery, helping to maximize range.

In Mild Hybrid and full hybrid vehicles , regenerative braking is the only way to recharge the battery. In plug hybrid and  electric vehicles , the system provides an auxiliary tool that helps conserve battery power and increase range.

In plug-in hybrid vehicles , the digital dashboard displays regenerative charging as it occurs so you can see the increase in electric range in real time.

AUTONOMY MONITORING

Your electric vehicle's digital dashboard monitors the remaining electric range and remaining battery charge so you know exactly where and when to recharge.

You can also track your electric car's remaining range and remaining battery using the FordPass app so you have all the information you need wherever you are.

WINTER DRIVING TIPS

Temperatures below 4°C reduce the performance of the electric vehicle battery. However, there are some things you can do to maximize the range of your electric car in cold weather:

1. Park indoors to reduce exposure to cold temperatures.
2. Plug in the vehicle for charging when parked and leave it off while charging.
3. Set a preconditioned cabin departure time via FordPass when your car is charging - this function heats your vehicle using mains power instead of battery power.
4. Use the seat and steering wheel heating functions (if available) and lower the heating temperature to reduce electrical consumption.
5. Remove snow from vehicle to reduce weight and drag.
6. Drive smoothly and at moderate speeds to conserve battery power.
7. Check the tire pressure and adjust it according to the Owner's Manual.

DRIVING MODE

Customize the driving settings of your hybrid or electric car to maximize its range.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES

The range of all-electric vehicles is maximized by intelligent technologies such as the Mustang Mach-E 's intuitive One Pedal Drive System for a smooth, effortless ride. In addition, three selectable driving modes allow you to fine-tune the vehicle's performance settings, allowing you to prioritize between powerful performance and optimum range.

PLUG-IN HYBRID VEHICLES

Selectable electric vehicle (EV) drive modes optimize the range and battery life of the plug- in hybrid vehicle  by putting you in control. By selecting the EV Auto mode, the vehicle will seamlessly switch between the electric and petrol engines depending on the driving conditions. Or, to maximize efficiency and access restricted traffic zones, it is possible to manually switch between all-electric and petrol-powered driving.
